Getting inked has become a popular way for people to express themselves these days. This is no longer something that only drunken sailors, bad boys and bad girls indulge in to be rebellious; it is an accepted art form for decorating your body. At the moment butterfly foot tattoos are very fashionable.

Tattoos are able to allow you to express your individuality, and you get to decide where on your body you want it. Tattoos can be done on any part of the body.

Foot tattoos are very sexy and impossibly trendy, but they are also quite painful. Even people who are not particularly fond of tattoos may find foot tattoos to be sexy, especially if they find feet to be sexy. The skin on the upper part of the foot is very thin so it is near to the bone and the foot is constructed of hundreds of different little bones. Because of the close proximity of the skin to the bone, having these tattoos can be rather more than usually painful.

People who don’t mind pain should be fine, but if you don’t have a very high pain threshold this could present a problem. If you take someone with you to offer moral support, you should be able to get through it. My daughter was determined to get a tattoo, but she is such a baby, I had to go with her and let her squeeze my hand and hide her face in my stomach, and her tattoo was no-where near her foot! But everyone is different and if you want something badly enough the pain won’t matter.

Fortunately foot tattoos tend to be of the smaller variety, a butterfly on your foot would be small. So the pain would be very short-lived. Also if you have an experienced tattoo artist do your foot tattoo they will be very quick. No one should expose themselves to an apprentice tattooist for their first or a foot tattoo. Make sure your tattoo artist has a lot of experience! It is more than usually necessary to touch up foot tattoos because of their proximity, so you also need to bear this in mind.

Getting inked on this part of your body means that if you live a double life; you are easily able to hide it. Pants and closed shoes can do this so if you don’t want the people at the office or your clients to know you have a tattoo, it is easily concealed.

Most tattoos can be hidden by clothing, if you have a responsible job and you don’t want people to know you have an arty, free-thinking side to yourself. Some stuck up people can be really offended by people who wear tattoos, even in this day-and-age.

Whether you have a butterfly tattooed on your foot or something else doesn’t really matter. But what does matter is the time it takes to heal, the healing process can take anything from 2 - 3 week and it is obviously better if the wound is exposed to the fresh air. Disturbing the wound can ruin your tattoo and you will have to have it touched up, so you have to try and wear open shoes. If this is not an option then you must wear two pairs of thin socks before you put on your shoes, and hope for the best.
